data center jobs salary

data center jobs salary

It's no secret that the economy is changing. As technology plays a greater role in our personal and professional lives, our economy too increasingly relies on technology to create jobs and encourage growth. Technology is the foundation of our digital economy, and its modern infrastructure is data.
However, in order to use data, we need a place to process and store it - in other words, data centers. Data centers are facilities that house the computers that process data. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, there are three million data centers across the country - including here in Alabama.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Chamber Technology Engagement Center (C_TEC) recently set out to learn how data centers impact their local communities, and the findings were substantial. According to our recent report, the average data center adds $32.5 million in economic activity to its local community each year.
Our report reveals that during construction, the average data center employs 1,688 local workers and provides them $77.7 million in wages. Additionally, building the average data center generates $243.5 million in output throughout a local economy's supply chain and produces $9.9 million in revenue for state and local governments, which can then be used for public services. For every year that follows, that same data center goes on to support 157 local jobs paying $7.8 million in wages. It injects $32.5 million into the local economy and generates $1.1 million in revenue to state and local governments.
The economic benefits of data centers can be seen here in Alabama, where they have been a significant boost to the state economy. Google is currently building a $600 million data center in Jackson County and plans to create over 100 high-paying jobs. Other major companies such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield, AT&T, and Atlanta-based power company Southern Company have already invested millions of dollars building data centers around Birmingham.
Across the country, data centers are powering communities, creating jobs, and driving economic growth. They support local communities both directly and indirectly through improving public infrastructure such as roads, power lines, water, and sewage systems and providing millions of dollars to local governments. Local infrastructure improvements and robust commercial activity can also help bring more businesses to the area, which can create jobs and spur additional economic growth.
However, beyond our local communities, data centers are also important to our global competitiveness. Innovations in science, energy, manufacturing, health care, education, transportation and many other fields depend on new technology and the ability to store and process data. Data centers create a foundation for the technology that has supported distance learning courses that improve education for both children and adults, wearable technologies that encourage healthy lifestyles, and lifesaving gene therapies for diseases like cancer.https://www.fieldengineer.com/skills/data-center-technician
The innovations that change the world start here at home. To create jobs in Alabama, spur innovation, and drive economic growth, we need to support investment in data centers. We need to create a business environment that encourages research and development. We need smart tax policies that incentivize investments in innovative and job-creating technology, and we need to lift burdensome regulations that prevent entrepreneurs from creating new products. The thousands of Americans working to build and operate data centers are proof that - with the right policies in place - data centers can create jobs in our communities that power innovation across the country and around the world.

Active Contingent Definition

 Let's say you've found your dream home online on the multiple listing service, but the status of the property is marked "active contingent." What does "contingent" mean, and is the real estate still up for grabs? Does "active" paired with "contingent" mean that the property can still be yours, if you make the right offer to a seller?

Read on for some explanation about this real estate listing status and for some insight into making an offer that will make the seller and buyer happy when a property is labeled contingent.

What does 'active contingent' mean?
If a home's status is "active contingent," it means that the buyer has submitted an offer to the seller with contingencies, or issues that must be resolved before the sale of the property can be finalized.
When a home is listed as "Active Contingent" or "Active with Contingencies," it means the seller has accepted an offer from a buyer and a Purchase and Sale Agreement exists, but that certain conditions (or contingencies) must be satisfied before the sale can be finalized. These conditions may include a home inspection or getting approved for a mortgage loan. Once these conditions are met, the home is no longer listed as Active Contingent. In certain areas, Active Contingent is also known as Active CAPA (can accept purchase agreement). What is the difference between contingent and pending?

Clients want to feel they can trust a freelancer before they engage them for a project and your profile photo is an important part of the equation. If a picture is worth a thousand words, what does your profile picture say about you?
To help attract clients and stand out from the crowd, keep these tips in mind when selecting your perfect profile picture.
Find your best light — Shady areas outdoors without direct sunlight or on a cloudy day are a great lighting choice. Inside, avoid overhead light, which creates harsh shadows, and instead look for natural light.
Simplify the background — Look for a plain and light background that is clear and uncluttered. A solid, not-too-bright wall, such as the side of a concrete or brick building, or a simple outdoor background might work well.
Focus on your face — Face the camera straight on or with your shoulders at a slight angle. Crop the image so you only include your head and the top of your shoulders. Dress in professional attire and remember to smile! Clients find smiling freelancers more warm, friendly, and trustworthy.
Get ready for the photoshoot — Have someone take your photo for you, or set up a tripod and take the photo yourself, and select the highest resolution to help ensure a crisp photo. Consider taking multiple photos, in several locations and with different poses, so you’ll have a variety to choose from.

WLAN security: how to make your wireless network into a fortress

Whether you’re using a private or business network, the need for security is a top priority. Traditional networks that use cables can provide some protection against external attacks. This is because without physical access to the cables, which are located throughout buildings, strangers cannot easily intercept or read data.
However, if you want to use a more practical wireless network, you run the risk of encountering security problems. Empty space is used instead of cables for transferring data, and the range is not measured by the length of the cable, but by the strength of radio signals. If a device in the wireless local network – better known as WLAN – sends data, a spy only needs a receiver within the range of transmitted radio signals to intercept this data. To use the wireless communication path without any worries, it is important to ensure you have good WLAN security.

What is mean by wireless LAN?

 A wireless local area network (WLAN) is a wireless distribution method for two or more devices that use high-frequency radio waves and often include an access point to the Internet. A WLAN allows users to move around the coverage area, often a home or small office, while maintaining a network connection.

WLAN is sometimes call a local area wireless network (LAWN).
In the early 1990s, WLANs were very expensive and were only used when wired connections were strategically impossible. By the late 1990s, most WLAN solutions and proprietary protocols were replaced by IEEE 802.11 standards in various versions (versions "a" through "n"). WLAN prices also began to decrease significantly.
WLAN should not be confused with the Wi-Fi Alliance's Wi-Fi trademark. Wi-Fi is not a technical term, but is described as a superset of the IEEE 802.11 standard and is sometimes used interchangeably with that standard. However, not every Wi-Fi device actually receives Wi-Fi Alliance certification, although Wi-Fi is used by more than 700 million people through about 750,000 Internet connection hot spots.
Every component that connects to a WLAN is considered a station and falls into one of two categories: access points (APs) and clients. APs transmit and receive radio frequency signals with devices able to receive transmitted signals; they normally function as routers. Clients may include a variety of devices such as desktop computers, workstations, laptop computers, IP phones and other cell phones and Smartphones. All stations able to communicate with each other are called basic service sets (BSSs), of which there are two types: independent and infrastructure. Independent BSSs (IBSS) exist when two clients communicate without using APs, but cannot connect to any other BSS. Such WLANs are called a peer-to-peer or an ad-hoc WLANs. The second BSS is called an infrastructure BSS. It may communicate with other stations but only in other BSSs and it must use APs

Fully Managed Server Services

Managed hosting

Managed hosting is an IT provisioning model in which a service provider leases dedicated servers and associated hardware to a single customer and manages those systems on the customer's behalf.
In managed hosting, customers can rent equipment such as dedicated server, storage and network hardware; operating systems; and system software. The leased equipment serves only that single customer -- or "tenant" as customers are referred to single-tenancy architecture. The customer usually has administrative access to the leased systems yet rarely uses it, instead opting to interact with the system through a web-based interface.

Features of managed hosting

Management services are a key aspect to what differentiates managed hosting from other dedicated hosting services. Typically, managed hosting providers are responsible for hardware and software setup and configuration, technical support, patch management, system maintenance, monitoring and updates. Managed hosting providers, however, may offer a menu of add-on services and/or packages that range from basic service offerings to pricier bundles of more advanced services. In most cases, managed hosting services can be customized to fit a customer's specific business requirements.
Among the services that customers can expect from managed hosting providers include:
  • backups and disaster recovery;
  • load balancing;
  • security services, such as vulnerability scans, intrusion detection, and distributed denial-of-service prevention and mitigation;
  • physical security measures for safeguarding data centers;
  • server configuration, maintenance and monitoring;
  • application support; and
  • support for resolving technical issues.
Some managed hosting companies have partnered with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and other cloud providers to expand their portfolios of management service offerings.
Managed hosting plans frequently come with a service-level agreement, which outlines the services the customer is paying for and service standards that the hosting provider is required to meet.
