6 Reasons You Should Earn the New CompTIA A+

Every release of a new CompTIA A+ version opens the debate about the value of the certification. It's one of those topics that splits industry professionals. Even in 2019.Many people say that it is not worth the time and expense of achieving certification status. Others seem to think that it is an absolute necessity for anyone getting into the IT industry. The truth, like so many things, is probably somewhere closer to the middle.Let's take a closer look at the arguments for and against this entry-level certification — and discuss six reasons (in no particular order) why you should earn the new CompTIA A+ certification.

1. Earning the new CompTIA A+ certification helps you get past HR bots

Some naysayers might claim that the new A+ is only good for checking a box when you apply for jobs. But HR scanning software can be hard enough to beat. So, who wouldn't want to have any kind of advantage?

a+ certification entry level jobs

 a+ certification entry level jobs

If the jobs you want require more certs, get more certs. If an A+ will get you the job you want, go for it. A+ is enough for entry level jobs. ... There are primarily two kinds of jobs, one is computer hardware and OS installation/repair, and the other is systems administration & networking.

How long does it take to study for CompTIA A+ certification?

The time to study for a CompTIA A+ certification varies depending on your IT experience. Since this certification is an entry-level one, most applicants will need around 10 to 12 weeks of studying to take and pass both CompTIA A+ certification exams. If you have experience in the IT field, you will need less time to get prepared for these exams and earn your certification. The first exam is hardware-focused, and the second exam is software-focused.

There are many free online resources, so make sure you take advantage of them and get as prepared for these exams as you can. There are study guides, videos, practice exams, etc., that can help you get an idea of what you will encounter in the exams. After you take and pass them you will be granted your CompTIA A+ certification.

For more information about CompTIA A+ certification check out this article: CompTIA Certification.

Among the certifications available for computer professionals, A+ is probably the one cited most often as a starting point for careers in information technology (IT). More than 260,000 people have received A+ certification, viewing it as a way to find jobs as computer service technicians or to gain enough skills to move on to further training.

Sponsored by CompTIA, an industry organization, A+ certifies skills in entry-level PC technology. It is a vendor-neutral certification, with an emphasis on the expertise needed to work as a computer service technician, troubleshooting and repairing PCs.

Given its popularity, it is no surprise certain misconceptions have developed about A+ certification, especially among people just thinking about getting started in IT. Is A+ certification a "must" for entry-level IT jobs? Is it for programmer wannabes? Technicians? Here is a guide to help you decide whether A+ certification is right for you.

Is A+ certification an appropriate starting point for all IT careers?

No. The IT world is vast, with an astounding variety of jobs available, from tech support personnel to programmers. These jobs require different skills, training and experience. Will A+ help you find a job in tech support or servicing computers? Yes. Will it help you find a job as a Java programmer? That's unlikely. Before you sign up for an A+ certification course, be sure it's an appropriate credential for your career goals.

What do you learn in an A+ certification program?

A+ certification programs typically focus on the skills required for entry-level PC technicians. Students learn about installing, configuring, upgrading and repairing PCs. At New Horizons, the IT training company, a five-day or 10-day course includes instruction in computer architecture, memory, modems, printers, hard disk setup and operating system optimization.

Is a course required to receive A+ certification?

No. The A+ exam is available from Prometric and Pearson VUE. The certification exam actually consists of two tests -- one focusing on core hardware technologies, the other on operating systems. For people who already have experience with PC troubleshooting, or have a lot of self-motivation, self-study with a book about A+, such as the A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide by Michael Meyers, may be the route to passing the exam.

juniper networks careers new grad

They hire through campus in limited colleges. If you are not from these high end colleges then the option for you is to find a perfect reference and apply through him/her. If you are awesome with networks & certified (CCNA Certification/Network Certifications/RHCE are a must) then you may have your chances. But yes the number they hire is quite low.

I know few students who were from a small college from Madhya Pradesh and got offer from juniper 3 years back. It was through the reference of their network trainer who himself was an Ex Employee of Juniper. The students selected were top rated in their Network & Information security skills.

Searching Reference: Present Employees or HR Managers - Best way through Linkedin. Also keep track of their careers page for any openings posted.

I joined Juniper networks Bangalore in 2012 and I worked there for almost two years. Following is my experience there.

1) Facility wise Juniper networks is top notch. They give individual cubicles to developers. Also they give RSUs, better than average market salary, they have good transportation etc.

2) The fact is Juniper networks is having some tough time in market for last several years. None of the new products is doing well in the market. For example I worked in a product called Qfabric. After several years of development and many million dollars of investment they scrapped the product. There is some kind of frustration, desperation and lack of vision among the top executives. This company now has all the symptoms of a sinking ship. They fire people randomly. Even senior level people are not spared. They fired their last CEO in 10 months. As a consequence this has become a place for playing politics where people are busy in saving their a** at the expense of others rather than doing any meaningful work for which Juniper was once famous for.

To summarize I will suggest potential job seekers to avoid this company for now. Things may turn better in future.https://www.fieldengineer.com/skills/juniper-network-engineer
